American diseases descend on Amsterdam plane crash victims
The Westboro Baptist Church, an American sect known for promoting the Christian God’s stance on homosexuality (it would appear he frowns upon it), has announced (PDF) it will picket the funerals of Dutch persons “killed at [the] Amsterdam plane crash.” No divine inspiration there, I am afraid. Yahweh forgot to tell the church there were no Dutch nationals among the dead. But these statements appear par for the course for the devout, as the church has also announced Turks will get the same treatment (PDF).
Meanwhile the radio this morning reported (RTV-NH, no written story available, yet) that at least two so-called American ‘ambulance chasers’, lawyers who try to represent accident victims, have been harassing the victims of the Turkish Airlines plane crash.
There’s a phrase the Dutch use for the extravagances we associate with the USA: ‘Amerikaanse toestanden’ (American situations). And the reason we apply that label is because we want no truck with them. Rare though is the time the Americans actually try and export their ‘situations.’

Surely this is a hoax? it doesn’t sound like it was written by a native English speaker, even one possibly speaking in tongues.
By the way, I can’t wait to see quotes from that press release on T-shirts all over Amsterdam this summer.
On the other hand, there might be copyright problems with “God hates Holland”. Surely that’s the job of the Belgians and the Germans?

Would that be the reason Americans stuff themselves with it at Thanksgiving?
Yeah, well these folks are relentless in their hate crimes, aren’t they? They threaten to disrupt funerals, but often don’t show up. Like Geert Wilders, they crave media attention to assist in promoting their agenda.
Step back for a minute and recognize that these “believers” attribute lethal accidents and natural disasters specifically to God’s condemnation of gays. Huh? It doesn’t say THAT in the Bible, that God is an interventionist who punishes evil-doers but it does say God prohibits killing people, coveting your neighbor’s wife and coveting your neighbor’s possessions. So why do our intellectually challenged friends from Kansas think that the punishment being meted out by God is about the gays instead of about the philandering possession-coveting neighbors?
I’m sorry some American’s are so fucking stupid. It pains me to no end.
Their hatred and stupidity is born of ignorance and fear.
Ironically ‘Amerikaanse toestanden’ actually cause some Americans to live here, because their overly religious nation does not allow them to live in the VS with foreign spouses of their own gender. The Germans call it Amerikanisierung. Personally, I’m for everyone applying fewer labels.
What astonishes me time and again besides the unclassifiable level of stupidity is the time and energy religious fanatics have. How do they do it?

We could take Geert Wilders argument about the Koran and apply it to the Bible. I’m not saying Islamic extremism that takes the form of murder is comparable to what the Kansas Gay-Haters are doing, I’m just saying that a comparison of their righteous indignation is the root of both.
If they come here I will make sure they get egged… Or worse. Get the fuck out of our country and get back to creepy America.

Me Mr M, Did you see that the British have told them they are not welcome in Britian and they will be put back on the plane if they land there. The US and Netherlands chose to accommodate more free speech than Britain. You can say any kind of crazy thing here but if you incite others to kill or cause mayhem, you will be prosecuted.
